Aesthetic Perfection

A very sunny and wonderful Tuesday evening in Gothenburg I was off check out the L.A based electronic industrial project called Aesthetic Perfection. They had been doing their “we love Scandinavia mini tour” and had been in Copenhagen the previous day. If you want to know more about them, check out their website! http://www.aesthetic-perfection.net/

I had a chat with the keyboard dude Elliot Berlin, because I was wondering why the hell they were playing at Henriksberg!? (Because the stage is very small you see)  As it turns out, he works at Henriksberg so therefore it was a quite natural choice when going to Sweden and playing.

As I said, Henriksberg top floor , they have a very small stage and not much room in front of the stage! Which sucked for me, trying to take some OK shots of the guys. :/ However, it was totally awesome audience they sure have many dedicated fans out there, and there was alooot of people there to, very cool on a Tuesday night! I felt a bit alone in my rocker outfit jeans and stuff during the day, because it was so fucking hot outside!! But when I got there I realized that my jeans and tank top was nothing compared to the crowd which consisted of the traditional all black, military cap, perfect shirt and boots – people! Respect!

So, the show –  It was HOT! It’s not hard to tell that two of the guys are close connected to combichrist, because it’s a similar vibe at stage, energetic, frantic, explosive and … yeah, combichrist is one of the best live acts and aesthetic perfection is well on their way! The energy, the smoke, the beat and the screams! Gotta love that shit. Looking forward seeing them on a bigger stage, at Amphi Festival in Cologne this summer.

About the music, this is music that is way better live, with all the lights, and smoke and people dancing and feeling the beat in your body!

Lots of really cute stuff occurred – as if often does on a smaller venue haha! But small things like that is just a very charming I think. Like some problem with the drumkit, and they needed a drum key, asking the audience… : ) And apparently they had no water on stage! .. and as I said, it was extremely hot! Ah I felt so bad for them, well …there’s a chain reaction however when the singer calls out for a glass of water and the crowd starts yelling for it as well, some guys runs off to the bar to get water.. in a few seconds the bartender comes running in panic asking “someone passed out?!! “ thinking it was an emergency. Haha! I explained to him that I think I saw the monitor fell down on the water, and that they had no water on stage.

If my memory don’t fail me, I believe that the last song was the one I like the best – Spit it out, and after that one they did an extra song! Later on after the show most of the people left, which sucked for the poor DJ, but the band mingled among the fans remaining.

I love that the guys had fun and gave a warm and entertaining show. Looking forward on seeing them at Amphi in July!

And yeah! Almost forgot – for only paying 80 SEK about 8 Euro, the golden ticket that you got sent home and got to keep, is a really nice initiative! Thumps up E! 😉

ENGEL releaseparty!

Finally it was time for the ENGEL releaseparty for their new album Blood of Saints!

This party was extra cool for us who participated in the making of the video, who also took place at sticky fingers top floor. It very nice to see mr Kiggs (director) again and the other cool people from the video. Headbanging time at the opening song at the show– Question your place. Yeeah! (my neck hurts – but totally worth it)

So Blood of Saints! I haven’t bought the physical cd yet, which I’ll definitely be doing later this week, because it totally kicks ass! Awesome production, really heavy and  a just another great metal album from  ENGEL. I know  people complaining about the electronic parts, well, ENGEL to me, has always been a band with  influences from industry/electronic music. That’s one of the things that make them special from other melodic death metal bands. And regarding the “dub step” stuff….who the fuck cares?! It’s in one of the songs, I think it’s cool, but I know some people don’t. I recommend you to listen to the whole album. This is just simply awesome metal music.

In Sweden we have had some bullshit holiday this week, so people have been out partying – because we don’t have to go to work. So when we went out at Friday night there was like NO PEOPLE outside? What the hell? Sweden is boooring. Well first thought – Have  I  missed something? Damn, should have  watched the news today! Is there some apocalyptic storm coming? Or some kind of  invasion?  No! I figured it must have been because people had  been out partying at Thursday night .. and they are all hung over. Well I was ready and set at least 🙂

(and as a cool surprise the ENGEL album also got available at Spotify just before going out)

The show was GREAT! ENGEL totally made a great performance, was very nice to finally see them live. (It was acually my first time, seeing them live) Some complaints maby that there should have been more people there, and the sound was perhaps not perfect.

But who cares. I had a great time, and there was some really great moments during the show. Here is one, when Magnus did a little dance hahah. Cred to Daniel Falk for the capture. (and for all of the awesome live pictures in this post – http://www.framednoise.com/ )

Really cool also that Niklas Engelin also was playing  this night! (because he also plays in In Flames, as you might know)

So, ENGEL seemed happy, they did a short set, with a mix of song from their albums, but most from the new album, which makes perfect sense because that’s what the party was for so, yeeah! 🙂

Although I found a cool live clip from when they did “Sense the fire”,  from the party!

So people, check out Blood of Saints!!

Next week I’m going to a show at Henriksberg, getting you the inside scoop from the American industrial/electronic project Aesthetic Perfection.

The true sound of the underground

Sometimes I get sick of the typical death metal bands. Well, we do get a lot of them around here, kind of like the American hardcore/emo bands, there is one in every corner!

That’s why this blog is a celebration to the bands that somehow reach out, but in a different way. They somehow don’t get as much attention from the crowds, the media or the record companies, which is a real shame.

I like alternative music, because it is alternative music. It’s not mainstream music = music that all sound alike with no soul. I like metal because it speaks to my heart in a special way. It unites people and makes the listener feel empowered.

I’m sick of the record companies and fans and media for not giving the bands that actually stand out, that doesn’t sound like all the other stuff already out there – some more attention.

For me the risk is that the metal scene becomes dead and uninspired. I like varieties, not conformity.

These thoughts are mostly regarding the Swedish situation, although I can imagine it’s a similar situation also in other places. Dare to take a chance to something new!!

(This does not mean that I don’t like or respect other good quality music, I do. I listen to all kind of music, not just alternative and metal. I truly support every hard working artist out there regardless of the genre or “how underground” they are or not. It’s not an easy business and we all should walk the path that feels right for them.)

With that said. Here is what I think right now is the true sound of the underground, the finest of the metal scene in Gothenburg right now! That is Age of Woe, Minora and Watchworks.

Minora

Progressive and amtospheric metal, reminding me of A Perfect Circle, Tool, Katatonia. Well, according to spotify they are at the top of my most listend songs… 🙂 … enough said the whole album is great! They are entering IF Studios for their new album, working with producer Roberto Laghi. Also Jesper Strömblad  have been co-writing/making arrangements on the new songs and will also be present in the recording process. Frank Default known for his work with Katatonia’s latest album is going to help them with the electronic/atmospheric parts. I just neeeeed to say that I am really impressed with the vocals, awesome voice; he really is a great vocalist.

Check out the cool video. And do another video soon guys!

Watchworks

Real heavy experimental metal, very cool and intense growl. They quick became NR 1 (!!) on the metal charts in Gothenburg on reverbnation. Very good! Check it out.

http://www.reverbnation.com/watchworks

Age of Woe

A real talented and ambitious group of guys, creating their own sound evolving around the landscapes of punk and metal. For me perhaps not the style I normally listen to, but after having seen Age of Woe live, I was blown away!  Now I am a true believer! Most of the guys play in other bands to, and three of them acually fronts other bands – which shows. They have a unique intense approach live, and their energy translates to the audience. Very refreshing !  Age of Woe just got home from their European tour. I think great things are coming for these guys.

Check out their video!

Thats all for today, here is a picture of me live, horns up and headbanging fuzz of hair 😀 ..I’ll post some news regarding Ultimate Fate on facebook later on announcing the new guitarplayer 😉 Stay METAL!

Shows and stuff

Hey all!

Some quick stuff about Ultimate Fate and then I am going to do this post in Swedish.

We had a blast at Belsepub with Lapis Lazuli and Akribi! I will post photos and we also did a video that is beeing cut and fixed right now, so I ll get back to you with that. Meanwhile check this out 😉 —>

So I went to a show with dEMOTIONAL last Friday and this is my impressions and some photos! (In swedish sry)

Jag tar med mig;

Glädjen

Publiken

Charmen

Rutinen

Ärligheten

Chris och beatboxet 🙂

Stilen (looking good lads!)

I wont. 😉

For more of my pictures go to my Facebook page, photos. 🙂

Check out dEMOTIONAL now! ->

Engel and love

Love is in the air!

Today is Valentines day, here in Gothenburg the people was just about to get some spring vibes, when SNOW hit last night and it started to snow as crazy. Once again, I made a poor choice last day at the mall, not to buy a warm hat on sale, damnit!!

This weekend was REALLY awesome!! I participated in an ENGEL video shoot. It was lots of hard work (constant head banging, dancing, screaming, getting wet and sticky, and of course enjoying the new ENGEL sounds and drinking beer) Next day – bruises at my ribs from head banging in a corset all night (not recommended) and ace in neck and back… TOTALLY WORTH IT however, Crew and band was amazing and can’t wait to see the result.

I’ll keep you updated!

For those of you never heard of ENGEL. Check them out. N O W!

Tomorrow we are doing some vocals in the studio with Ultimate Fate. It’s to try out some ideas for two new songs. Andreas will scream his ass of and I will be as happy as I always am when I’m recording. J Hopefully, I’ll upload a video if Ola can snap out of his sleepy air head mood and remember to bring the video camera. 😉

There are still no confirmed new members in UF, to replace Niklas and Jacob yet. (guitar and bass) We are however playing with two great guys right now, so will see how that turns out. Keep u all posted about it. You, who are attending our shows in Sweden, will see them live with us!

I’m happy to announce that the album is taking form in sound, style and all the ideas surrounding this process! If everything works out like we hope it will, I guarantee it will be mind blowing. And very fresh and exciting! I’m very happy about that. We have come up with some stuff and ideas that no other band out there is doing.  I’ll do my best and try to get u all some sneak peeks later on.

Hope you all had the best day and eat some sweeet stuff! I had vanillaicecream, fresh strawberries and some dark chocolate sprikled over it. Yumyum.

Lots of love to all of you!

VIDEO today is the Gothenburg band dEMOTIONAL, the video is done by Kristoffer Kiggs who is doing the ENGEL vid. They are a great bunch of talented guys, so check it out!

Tour, videos and the rise of women.

Hello my darlings!

There has been so much going on lately! I’ll tell you all about it, some now, some later on.. 😉

We  are working togheter with the swedish symphonic metal band Lapis Lazuli and together we are hitting the road and doing some shows!  (Not all dates and venues are set yet, so more details about this later!) However, it will be awesome!! 😀 Frida is a doll and I’m really looking forward playing togheter with them.

So we are playing at Belsepub here in Gothenburg. Also joining the line up is our friends in the progressive band – Akribi! It will be an kickass event!

Tickets here, or just pay in the door. http://www.ticnet.se/event/ULTIMATE-FATE-LAPIS-LAZULI-AKRIBI-biljetter/HEN0331A

In a previous blog I asked if people wanted to see the acoustic gig we did opening  for Ravenscry this fall in Gothenburg. Andrea in Ravenscry was kind enough to videotape our performance.

I .. triiieeeed to edit the films togheter, but, yeah, I knooow it sucks!  😀 …But at least you get to see us playing 🙂 In the future the video logs will be more proffesional looking, I promise. (cuz I wont be doing the editing.. ) 😉

This was a hard gig for me, I had been sick all week with the flu – and as all singers and in genereal people who are sick, and try to speak or sing whatever.. it sounds like shit!  haha .. but the show must go on, so just did my best anyhow. 🙂

Here you are, enjoy!

Ultimate Fate  is working on new material/songs for the album,  but since Jacob and Nicke no longer is in the band, there are some challenges. We are trying out a new bass player, who will join us at Belsepub and Peter who did the previous shows is playing the guitar.

I’ll give you guys more updates asap!

Oh one more thing, I’m am doing a fun acoustic project, a sort of tribute project… 🙂 Can’t wait to show yall! ..but for now, we are keeping it to ourselfs.. I’ll let you in on more details lateron:D (This not related to UF)

Stay metal! /J

The winter wonders…

Christmas has been great actually! Me and my family have been to my grandmother’s house and enjoying the “holiday”..  Fun, but stressful to.

We are in the north part of Sweden, in the small town where I grew up in, I moved to the south part of Sweden (Gothenburg) when I was 16, cuz I wanted to go to music school and live in a bigger city (gbg)! Small towns suck bigtime. (Still do) Although I do love the nature up here.

So almost every Christmas we are here. At least there was some snow, (its not in GBG) so I we got our white Christmas after all. 😀

I got lots of great stuff! I do think the best one was from my brother, and it was a ticket to Gothenburg Winter Metal ! Hellyeah!  Can’t wait !  (Dark Tranquillity, The Unguided and Amaranthe)

I have been trying not do any band stuff, but I can’t help myself and there are some progress being made with collaboration with other bands and for the UF  tour this spring. Tell you guys more when it’s settled. 🙂

Also we are confirmed for an interview in a American radio show later in January, that will be fun!

I want to take this opportunity to give my warmest thank you’s to all the totally AMAZING people I have met and worked with this year. It’s been a great year for Ultimate Fate, but for me as an person and artist as well. I’m so grateful for the support and love from all of our fans!! You guys are the beeest!! 😀
